I am Dr.M.V.Rao, M.Sc (Biochemistry 1975); Ph.D (Pharmaceutical Sciences 1980) with over 40 years of experience in Food and Pharmaceutical industries in Production, Quality Control and R &D. We have an established (1992) Research laboratory at Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, India catering food industry.
Cellulose products
We have worked on cellulose products Microcrystalline cellulose, Carboxymethyl cellulose and cellulose powder and have a very special experience in the product development and research aspects of these items. With years of long experience in the field our specialisation had been in designing performance tests and determine the grade and properties to achieve an end product of desired properties.
For example, if a tomato ketchup had to be made with a desired consistency, we develop carboxymethyl cellulose of proper viscosity and degree of substitution in a particular percentage to achieve this end product.
Thus we hve developed products for detergent, paint, pesticides, pharmaceutical, food and oil drilling industries tested in laboratory scale and ultimately at a plant scale operations.
Natural gums
Our work on natural gums is considered exceptional. We worked on Gum Karaya, Cocchlospermum gums from plant level to end user level. Our work has resulted in the successful exports of Gum Karaya. We have developed a technology for spot analysis of gum karaya and stabilising the product for a very long time.
Traditional - Integrated Pest Management - Non Pesticide Management - Sustainable farming
Organic farming is growing more as a necessity in all fields of agriculture. Organic farming is the basis now for exports. Organic farming is a part of sustainable agriculture and has evolved from Integrated pest Management (IPM), Non-pesticide management (NPM) as a third phase. We have first hand experience in organic farming of spices and have trained more than 1000 farmers and were successful in this direction. We have proven organic farming practices in the laboratory and in the field thus were successful with land to lab and lab to land exercise. We are familiar with controlled use of pesticides and gradually leading to non pesticide management practices.
Sustainable Agriculture
Sustainability is more of a philosophy than a procedure. Sustainability practices start at home in our day to day life. If we save the environment environment saves us. We have to cut down the wastes first, think of running taps, glowing lights, engines started all the time etc.
We have specialized in sustainable agriculture practices and have a set of guidelines and practices with first hand practical experience in managing sustainable spice farming. We have over 300 questions and answers on various aspects of sustainable agriculture on Training, Continuity, Fuels, waste management, water, soil, animal welfare, social aspects, supply chain managements and total environment protection.
Laboratory testing (General, Instrumental, microbiological and pesticide residues)
We have a well established laboratory with all advanced equipment suitable for the analysis and research on spices and several other food items. We develop methodology for internal control and standardization of industries especially food and spice units. We have testing facilities and expertise in conducting general, instrumental and microbiological methods as well as for pesticide residues.
